Patrick Marleau's four-goal flurry in a 13 1/2-minute span helped the San Jose Sharks beat the last-place Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on Monday night for their fifth straight win.

The left wing became the 12th player in NHL history to score four goals in a period and the first since Mario Lemieux on Jan. 26, 1997, at Montreal, according to the NHL.

Connor McDavid scored the winning goal in overtime as the Oilers won their fourth game in a row, 4-3 over the Panthers on Wednesday night.

McDavid, who also had two assists in the game, got a breakaway late in overtime and got the puck away with 2.6 seconds left. Florida's James Reimer made the glove save, but the puck was ruled to be across the line via video review.

Edmonton started the scoring six minutes in off a steal as McDavid fed Kassian on a 2-on-1, and he beat Reimer. It was McDavid's 100th career point, coming in his 92nd NHL game.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have retired Martin St. Louis' uniform No. 26 -- the first player in franchise history to receive the honor.

St. Louis was honored in a pregame ceremony Friday night before the Lightning's 3-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

A key member of Tampa Bay's 2004 Stanley Cup championship team, St. Louis holds the franchise record for points (953) and assists (588).

Roberto Luongo didn't get too excited after his latest shutout and historic victory. He is more concerned with getting the Florida Panthers back in the Stanley Cup playoff race.

Luongo made 28 saves for his 448th career win to pass Terry Sawchuk for fifth place in NHL history, leading the Panthers to a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night.
